We all know the versatility and power of JD Edwards.
In the past five years, we also know that JD Edwards has exposed the power of its applications to REST Webservices with Orchestrator.
It's easier than ever to interface with JD Edwards by using the Orchestrator that runs applications in the background. If you want to load employees from a file, you need to map the CSV file and Orchestrate the applications in a specific order. If you're going to create Sales Orders from a Cloud system, build an API with Orchestrator and publish it. You're all set. We achieve a higher level of automation by reusing the high-code environment that JD Edwards has, in addition to forty-plus years of business process improvements.
We can interface with files, with REST Webservices, we can open and translate XML files, even saving the output as a file is possible. There's a scheduler system; we can monitor the health of our Orchestrations and much more.
Still, something is missing at this point.
The interfaces are not user-friendly. We have to handle JSON files, check the formatting if we're missing something like a comma. On XML or CSV files, we work most of the time using a text editor or a spreadsheet. This type of usage causes silos that goes against the ERP value proposition.
To mitigate silos, we build apps - mostly in the ERP realm - that will enhance the user experience. Still, there's a limitation here: once the user leaves the ERP limits, it gets more complex to enable such interaction.
Brokers, connectors, portals were technologies used to bring the ERP high-coding environments to the "outside" world for users to interact with it. The configuration, resources, and infrastructure to build such an ecosystem was costly, slow, and needed coding. Much coding, by the way.
The Low-Code/No-Code platforms came to solve this problem by easing the application development, speeding up the development cycle, and lowering the costs, allowing problem-solving capabilities into non-IT professionals' hands.
Bringing this to the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne reality, this means we're empowering the Business Analysts to build applications, workflows, and user experiences without coding knowledge, end-to-end by leveraging the Orchestrator and the Boomi Flow Platform.
